Up to 10,000 early years settings across the UK will receive the free pack, 'I CAN TALK!', which is designed to raise awareness of speech and language development. It has been endorsed by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

The pack contains a video, booklet, poster and questionnaire. Nurseries that complete and send in the questionnaire will receive a certificate and wall chart.

Maxine Henderson, nursery manager at Leapfrog Day Nursery in Smithfield, has previewed the pack. 'The practical suggestions are great in reinforcing what everyone should be doing on a daily basis,' she said.
