The acquisition brings the total number of settings owned by the group in London and the Home Counties to eight, with a ninth nursery in Greenwich due to open this year.

In Nursery World's Nursery Chains supplement, published this month, the group is listed as providing more than 580 registered childcare places at its UK nurseries.

It also owns and franchises childcare settings in the USA, Hong Kong, India and Dubai.

The newest acquisition is rated Outstanding and is based near Waterloo Station in London. Property adviser Christie & Co describe the nursery as being ideally positioned for commuting parents coming into the city and those who live locally.

St Patrick’s Montessori Nursery School was previously owned by William and Elizabeth Angus who have now retired.

Kido deputy CEO Mr Philippe Sachs said, ‘We are honoured and humbled that William and Elizabeth chose us to continue on with St. Patrick’s rich history.

‘We love the nursery, its teachers and the wonderfully supportive parent community and look forward to the day when we can once again take full advantage of its proximity to South Bank and all its lovely activities.’

Sophie Willcox, director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added, ‘We were inundated with interest and received a number of offers due to its excellent location and reputation and I feel Kido is the perfect fit to carry on William and Elizabeth’s legacy.’

The nursery was sold for an undisclosed price.
