Clean Language in the Classroom

by Julie McCracken (Crown House, 16.99)

This book is not about avoiding swearwords, but being free of assumptions. Clean language relates to a counselling process developed by psychologist David Grove and has been developed into a model using questioning techniques. Written by a primary school teacher, this guide aims to help children learn more about what they need to motivate themselves, and become more aware of their thought processes. Benefits, she says, include improved communication; improved attainment; a supportive, collaborative classroom culture; and self-motivated, independent, reflective learners.
