Welsh-medium early years practitioners

The Wales Pre-School Playgroup Association (Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin) and Trinity College in Carmarthen have received 4.87m from the Welsh Assembly to deliver a new training programme for Welsh-medium early years practitioners. The money will be used to train 450 practitioners over the next two to three years. Jane Davidson, minister for education and lifelong learning, said, 'Increasing the number of early years practitioners able to work in Welsh-medium settings will allow us to provide a higher number of Welsh-medium places. The partnership can now also work on developing opportunities for distance learning, on-line learning facilities, and a national database, as well as support for candidates and qualified practitioners.'
