The big picture: Homespun care

A Steiner kindergarten in Bath has received outstanding grades in
all areas at its recent Ofsted inspection.

At Laurel Farm Kindergarten, children are able to participate in processes including sheep shearing and washing, teasing, carding and dyeing the wool.

They then use the wool for felting projects, making play resources and spinning, with the spun wool used to weave in round looms and finger knit.

Ofsted commended Laurel Farm on the activities, saying that 'being part of this whole process allows the children to participate in a continuous learning journey.'

Last year, Steiner kindergartens achieved exemptions from those aspects of the Early Learning Goals in the EYFS that do not fit with the Steiner educational philosophy.
