Pattern

We launch a well-designed new project

Mini topic

Share bedtime rhymes for daytime learning

Children will enjoy this sociable variation on the game of tag.

Planned learning intention

To be able to negotiate space when playing a chasing game.

Resources

Large open space and plenty of children.

Step by step

* Take the children to a large, open space, indoors or outdoors.

* Set up boundaries to define the area the children can play within.

* One person is chosen to be 'sticky toffee' and has to chase after the others.

* If someone is caught, they become part of the sticky toffee and have to hold hands with the first person.

* The piece of sticky toffee gets longer and longer as more people get caught.

* As an alternative, the sticky toffee can split into two once four people have joined together.
