Parents judge food quality

Nurseries, playgroups and primary schools with healthy eating policies were singled out for praise by a panel of parents last week. The Parents' Jury was set up earlier this year by the independent research charity the Food Commission to let parents say what they think of the food available for their children. The 800 parents voiced their approval of fresh fruit, especially bananas, kiwi fruit, grapes and apples, Sun-Maid sun-dried seedless raisins and Captain Organic dried apricots. The food manufacturer Organix and Sainsbury's supermarket's Blue Parrot Cafe range of children's foods also received the thumbs-up.
