MOTHER'S DAY

Many early years settings across the country celebrated Mother's Day this April. Rainford Pre-School and Playgroup in Rainford, Essex organised a pamper day for their mothers, as did Little Acorns Neston in Merseyside. Children from the Old House Day Nursery in Sancton, East Riding of Yorkshire (below) treated their mothers to a hand massage.

Children at Crossens Nursery School in Southport, Merseyside put on a special performance, while Tots n Tykes day nursery in Leeds (below) held a Mother's Day high tea with sandwiches and home-made scones.

FLYING HIGH

Children from the pre-school room at Nursery on the Green in Frimley Green, Surrey had fun making aeroplanes out of model clay and lollipop sticks. The activity stemmed from the children's interest in paper aeroplanes and led to aeroplane-based role play.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

At Playdays Daycare Nursery in Blackrod, Bolton, Stepping Stones Lingley Mere in Cheshire (top), and Sparklers Nursery in Castle Douglas, Scotland (bottom), the children have been making the most of the warmer spring weather and exploring the changes the season brings.

ON THE BUS

Children from Alphabet House Nursery in West Bridgford, Nottingham played at being bus conductors when they went on the inaugural outing of their new 17-seater minibus to Rushcliffe Park. To get into character, they made bus tickets and conductors' hats and learned all the words to 'The Wheels on the Bus'.

A CHEESY TIME

Reception-class children from Lincolnshire Montessori in Caistor, Lincolnshire visited a cheese factory to learn how Lincolnshire Cote Hill Blue cheese is made, from the cows being milked to the finished product. They even got to take some cheese back with them and eat it for their snack.
