CC Nurseries Group, which was established in 2016, has bought Peek-a-boo Nursery School in Edinburgh, Scotland.

With the new site, the group, now operates nine nurseries, providing 748 childcare places.

Peek-a-boo Nursery School will continue to be run by nursery manager Jennifer Gunn, who has worked at the setting for more than 15 years, with guidance from the CC Nurseries Group’s senior manager for Scotland, Maxine Simpson-Smith.

In total, CC Nurseries group has two sites in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow, along with its other settings in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire – acquired in the last 18 months.

The group’s chief operating officer/head of nurseries, Andrew Clifford who was the former managing director of First Class Childcare, said, ‘Peek-a-boo Nursery has been previous owner Sally-Anne’s life’s work for the past 23 years and we share so many of the same values and aspirations for our children and all our teams.’

Toddletown moves in new direction

Nursery group Toddletown has sold one of its settings, The Wigwam Nursery in Reading, to allow it to focus on acquiring new sites in the Home Counties. The move leaves the group with two settings in Surrey and Hampshire.

The group also plans to open four new settings next year under its franchise brand, Toddleworld, which it launched at the beginning of the year.

Co-owner of Toddletown Eamonn O’Connor told Nursery World, ‘The decision to sell Wigwam was not taken lightly – we have enjoyed owning the nursery, helping it develop and working with the tremendous staff team. However, selling it will enable us to more closely align shareholder interests in future projects.’

He added, ‘Toddleworld is attracting plenty of interest and we expect it to grow rapidly and, through its innovative approach, be a disruptive force in the current nursery franchise market.’
