North West nursery group eyes expansion

Nursery chain Poppy and Jack’s has bought three new nurseries.

Poppy and Jack’s has confirmed the purchase of Stepping Stones Weston in Crewe and Stepping Stones Grange and Broom in Stoke, taking the group up to nine settings.

The Poppy and Jack’s group, which was established in 2011 by owner Sarah Bellamy, will now offer almost 600 registered places.

The new purchases follow the chain’s acquisition of the 64-place Warrington Old Vicarage Nursery last year, which has now been expanded to offer places to 80 children.

Ms Bellamy said, ‘We’re really excited as Maria Bradbury, who has just sold the Stepping Stones group, has a very similar ethos to us and we’ve been looking for a while for a good fit.

‘The nursery chain has been running to outstanding for over 15 years under Maria’s direction.

‘The nurseries are fantastic with an extremely long running and loyal staff team – we can’t wait to have their experience as part of the Poppy and Jack’s family.’

The group plans to invest in a Forest School at Stepping Stones Weston and to add one more nursery to their portfolio later this year.

Poppy & Jack's received development capital from investors Foresight last year.
