LEYF opens nursery number 34

Social enterprise London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) has opened a new nursery in Fulham, London.

Townmead Community Nursery is  LEYF’s 34th nursery in London and is a partnership with Shepherds Bush Housing Association. It is the group's first in Hammersmith and Fulham.

LEYF CEO, June O’Sullivan said, ‘At LEYF, we aim to extend and enrich children’s learning, giving every child a brilliant nursery experience and supporting them to be the best they can be.

‘Working in partnership with parents and the local community is a very important part of our nursery model, so we’re really looking forward to opening our 34th nursery in what will be a new borough for us.’

The setting aims to offer a home-from-home environment and facilities include a ktchen, an outside garden, three age-based rooms as well as a nappy change area and a milk kitchen for toddlers.

Hammersmith and Fulham councillor Sue Macmillan, cabinet member for children and education, officially launched the new nursery on Monday.

LEYF now plans to reach 5,000 children across 50 nurseries by 2017.

June O’Sullivan said, ‘We have ambitious growth plans because we know that early years education is critical to a child’s long-term success and helps give them the best chance of becoming a healthy, happy and successful young adult.

‘As a social enterprise we reinvest all our profits to give this opportunity to as many London children from as many backgrounds as possible.’

LEYF was voted Nursery Group of the Year at the 2014 Nursery World Awards.
