This latest deal means that Kids Planet now operates 75 nurseries across the Midlands and the North West, providing childcare to more than 10,000 children.

Poppy & Jack’s was established in 2009 and supported by the Foresight Group – a private equity investment company.

The deal, which was backed by investment from BGF, follows Kids Planet’s acquisition of Learning Curve – a group of five nurseries and out-of-school clubs across Lytham St Anne’s and Blackpool, last month.

In March, Kids Planet won a bid to run the five workplace nurseries for staff and students at Oxford University, which were put out to tender, after being previously managed by Bright Horizons.

The nursery group also took the number one spot in Nursery World’s Nursery Chains quality table, which analyses Ofsted grades of the largest nursery groups.

Clare Roberts, chief executive of Kids Planet, said, ‘Poppy & Jack’s is a nursery group with the same mission and values as our own. It’s a natural fit for our expanding portfolio and we look forward to working with the teams. At Kids Planet, we provide the best possible start for children and are excited to continue to welcome children and parents to the fantastic settings. We are very much looking forward to providing an outstanding level of childcare that is our hallmark.’

Sarah Bellamy, chief executive of Poppy & Jack’s, added, ‘Clare and the team at Kids Planet are the perfect guardians to take the group through its next stage of growth.'
