Resources

Home-made bingo cards, coloured counters, marker pens, soft material bag, letters of the alphabet

Step by step

* Make bingo cards with five rows and four columns. Shade ten random boxes with a black marker pen. Write a selection of letters of the alphabet in the other ten boxes, remembering to use lower-case letters.

* Write each letter of the alphabet (lower-case) on small individual pieces of card. Place these pieces of card or lower-case magnetic letters in the soft material bag.

* Give each child in the group a bingo card.

* Explain the rules of the game so that they understand if the letter pulled from the bag is on their bingo card, they should cover it with a counter.

* Encourage the children to call 'Line!' or 'House!'

* Invite the children to take turns at being the 'caller' when they become confident with the game.
