Free books for Scottish children named

The Scottish Book Trust has announced the books that will be distributed to children under its early years book-gifting programme for 2014.

The Trust’s Bookbug programme, designed to encourage parents and children to share books together, sees all children from birth- to-five in Scotland receive free books.

The Bookbug packs for babies and toddlers are distributed via a health visitor, while three-year-olds receive their free books - 'a Pirate pack' - at nursery.

Children aged five are given a Family Pack of books by their school. The books are made up of the three shortlisted books from the Bookbug category of the Scottish Children's Book Awards 2015. They are given out during Book Week Scotland, an annual event, taking place this year on 24-30 November.
