Fourth nursery furthers chain's ambitions

Hampshire nursery chain Hopscotch Day Nurseries is opening a fourth setting in Lee-on-the-Solent next month, doubling its number of sites in just two months.

The nursery group has secured £300,000 in a Sure Start capital grant from Hampshire County Council to refurbish a derelict building owned by the Royal British Legion.

The new nursery opens on 4 May, offering 85 places. With the opening of a Hopscotch nursery at Botley last month, it will take the group's total offer to 350 childcare places and put it well on the way to achieving its owner's ambition to develop a ten-strong nursery chain across the south coast.

Founder and managing director Freya Derrick opened her first nursery in Gosport in 2005 because she was unhappy with the provision available for her own children.
