Developing occupational maps of the family learning sector

A project is under way to develop occupational maps of the family learning sector. The National Institute for Adult Continuing Education (NIACE), the leading non-government organisation promoting adult learning, is running the project for the Department for Education and Skills. The first stage involving UK-wide focus groups of family learning practitioners has just been completed and it indicates there is a demand for national occupational standards in the sector. These could provide tools to use in staff appraisals, training, fundraising and continuing professional development. Family learning practitioners are invited to take part in the consultation process. Contact New Directions Consulting on 0151 343 0998.
