For children at risk of social exclusion, for those with disabilities, in poor housing or poverty and for those in families experiencing difficulties, high quality out-of-school childcare can be crucial.

All children benefit from access to positive and supportive environments to develop, play and learn, but for some children, it is particularly important. For children at risk of social exclusion, for those with disabilities, in poor housing or poverty and for those in families experiencing difficulties, high quality out-of-school childcare can be crucial.

It can provide a powerful intervention and preventative approach to support children and families in need when complemented by wider health, education, play and family support. Last year, Kids' Clubs Network research project 'Kids Clubs in the Community' found that out-of-school clubs brought multiple benefits for the whole community, including important emotional support for children.
