A multidisciplinary approach to working with special needs is proving effective for Bradford EYDCP's Area SENCOs (special educational needs co-ordinators).

As a new team we have had to develop our own ways of working within the guidelines from the Sure Start Unit. This has proved both challenging and rewarding.

We work with non-maintained early years and childcare settings in order to meet the needs of children up to the age of 16 years old.

The team includes a pre-fives team leader, a health practitioner, a voluntary sector practitioner and a social worker. It has also recently appointed a specialist speech and language therapist who is not officially a member of the team but works closely with us.
