Anglia Ruskin University claims its MA Education with Montessori course is the first masters programme of its kind to focus on the Montessori method of education in the UK.

Running from the next academic year, the course is open to graduates who have relevant experience or a BA degree related to early childhood studies or education.

The university has also introduced a new three-year Montessori degree course. The BA (Hons) Montessori Early Childhood Studies course provides graduates with a full and relevant qualification, enabling them to take employment as a Montessori teacher in an early years setting.

Both courses can be accessed remotely or face-to-face at the university’s campus in Chelmsford. Student finance is also available.

Learners with a Level 4 Montessori diploma can apply to join the BA at Level 5 and complete years two and three to gain their full degree.

Course leader for the BA (Hons) and masters, Michelle Wisbey (pictured) said, ‘The Montessori BA degree provides an opportunity for students to study Montessori to graduate level, preparing them for practice and graduate leadership roles in early childhood settings. The inclusion of the Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies also ensures this degree is full and relevant for practice. On completion of the course, graduates can go on to the masters study, PGCE, EYITT or ITT pathways.’
