Q: Our new manager says that we should not use stickers with children for good behaviour and that it creates more problems than it solves. Her view is that children have to learn to do things for the right reasons, rather than just for a sticker. What are your thoughts?
A: It is interesting how stickers invoke a range of reactions from people working with children. There are some who love them and find them very effective tools in keeping children on the 'straight and narrow'. Others simply loathe them on principle. It sounds as if your manager is in the latter camp!
