Nursery World - Market View: Up in the Air

At the time of writing this column, we are in the middle of a period of almost unprecedented political and economic turbulence in the UK.

The headlines were filled with backlash both at home and globally against the Government’s proposed tax cuts. For the childcare sector, there has been a lot of press around the Government’s openness to consider significant changes to how nurseries are funded and regulated, including its willingness to consider deeper changes to ratios (not just for two-year-olds), parent-side funding and even 50 hours of funding.

In addition to this, the Children’s Commissioner has suggested in her Vision for childcare report that schools could be used in place of PVI settings. This has been topped off with the Chancellor being replaced (again) after just a few weeks.
